Jun laughed. No, that definitely wasn't real magic. He should know as he was able to supplement his fighting with a few spells. No mage would detect anything from that.
"It's a bit tricky but I can show you if you like. It's not real magic. Completely ordinary parlor tricks," he said happily. That's why he loved it.
"Although if I show you how it might ruin the trick for you. Do you still want to know?"

She bit her lip in contemplation. She shook her head eventually, "No, I don't want it ruined. But are you sure that's just a parlor trick?" she asked.

"Well maybe parlor trick is a harsh term for it. It is definitely tricky. Took me a while to master that one. But in terms of actual spells...No, you don't need any special magical talent or whatever for it. Anyone can do it with enough practice and determination," he assured her. "Why?" he asked curiously. "Do you believe in real magic?" he questioned, intrigued. Few normal people did in today's era.

"Well...there's a lot of weird stuff in the world," she said, "Who's to say magic isn't out there as well?"

Oh he really liked this girl. "Your open mindedness is refreshing," he said sincerely.

"No, it's really wonderful, Rui-chan. Hold onto it for as long as possible."

"I'll try," she smiled innocently.

"Tell me, Rui-chan, do you want real magic to exist?" he asked curiously.

"I think it would be a wonderful thing," she told him.

He grinned wryly. He wondered if she would feel the same way if she knew the ramifications. Spells could be used to accomplish great good but they could also bring about the worst destruction. And then Horrors could in a sense be considered magical. They were demons but they definitely weren't things typical humans acknowledged.
"Well your attitude is preferable to blind terror but wouldn't you be worried about how people would use it or just what it would mean for magic to exist?"

"Well, if it exists, I'm sure it's fine," she said, "I'd hope they're responsible enough, anyway. But...it's good if it would exist. It's something nice for the world."

Rui-chan was really naive. But he supposed that if he'd been raised in a different family, a family that knew nothing about Horrors and Makai Knights he might feel the same.
He was half tempted to tell her it did exist and see how she reacted. She didn't seem like she'd instantly doubt his sanity. But that would lead to all sorts of questions. It would be smarter to wait until she saw a Horror again and then explain what was going on.
"I'm sure if it exists, you'll see it one day."

But she wouldn't be happy when she saw it. It was a shame but her experience would be tainted with Horrors and sad explanations. He almost wished he could show her a bit without it.
"And you think you'd believe it when you saw it?" he asked. "You wouldn't just think it was some mere trick or illusion?"
