She just smiled and watched in amusement as they walked on. It wasn't too much longer before they arrived at her house. It had a few bedrooms and enough living space to be comfortable for four, so for two it should be a pretty good place.
"I still don't know how I ended up with such a large home," she said, hurrying up to short flight of stairs towards the locked door.

Jun knew why but it definitely wouldn't help to bring that up. He still felt terribly guilty that the priestess had wiped her memories. Even if she was happier, even if things were more convenient this way, it should have been her choice. Losing her family had been enough. She shouldn't have lost her memories of them too.
Jun waited downstairs. It was Rui-chan's home. He shouldn't poke around without permission. While she was upstairs he tried asking Uriel again.
"So can you detect her?" "Not the way she is now. Not enough Horror blood. But I can make her something." "And then you'll be able to detect her?" he asked incredulously. Jun had no idea his partner could even make something. "Yes," Uriel said simply. "You've never mentioned this before." "It was never relevant and you never asked."

Rui came downstairs, "Alright, I think one of the rooms up here would work for you," she said, "I can show you now if you want," she offered, and waved her arm out in his direction, "or we could eat first, the kitchen is over there."

"You're probably hungry, Rui-chan. I'll start cooking. But first I want to ask you something. Uriel says that he can make you a bracelet that can detect your presence. Would you be okay with that? It wouldn't be sentient like him. It would basically just be a transceiver. You wouldn't be able to take it off but if anything happened he'd know where you were," he explained.
It would have been easier to just give her the bracelet after Uriel made it and have her put it on. But she had so few choices left. She should have some say in what went on around her.

She shrugged, "Depends what it looks like," she laughed a little.

Jun looked down at Uriel. This was all new territory to him. "Will it be pretty?" he asked.
Uriel's red eye swiveled to look up at Rui. "It'll basically look like me but simpler. A silver bracelet with little design. Am I pretty enough for a young girl like you to wear?" he teased.

She lowered herself to Uriel's level and observed him, "I don't know...," she said, "Do you think you are?" she teased.

Uriel swiveled his eye around some more, pretending to size her up. "I don't think you'll downgrade my bracelet too much by wearing it. I'll generously gift it to you," he joked.
"Uriel!" Jun objected. "Really, Jun. If you just wanted to the two of you to have matching items you should have bought her something. I recommend cellphone charms. Girls like that." "I don't think I've seen you this happy in a while," Jun huffed. "Well I don't think you've ever asked me so many questions or been so motivated after hours. She's a good influence. Definitely buy her a cellphone charm."
"I'm not making any food for you!" "I don't eat." "The food I make will be so good you'll be sorry you can't!"

"Um...in case you were going to, I don't like the charms," she said, "Sorry." She looked at Uriel, "Do you think that's what he wants? Something matching?"

"What?! Of course I wasn't going to..." Jun began before Uriel cut him off.
"You don't like cellphone charms, really? Here I thought that was quite popular now. What is it you do like then?" Uriel asked curiously. "Um-hmmm. I'm sure that's what Jun wants. He's much more sentimental than he appears. I should know. I'm his partner."
Jun twitched. "Uriel...I'm going to kill you!" "Jun, I don't think you even know how. Haven't asked enough questions off hours." "I will figure it out!" "But then I can't make Rui a matching bracelet! Then what will you do? You'll actually have to buy her something yourself!"

Rui stepped back and had a smile on her face as she watched them argue. This was getting entertaining.

"Please enlighten me, Uriel! Why are you so happy right now? And is your happiness contingent on my misery?" "Well if I was a vindictive MadÅgu, which I'm not mind you, but if I was I'd say this is only fair after all the times you attracted normal people's attention to get me to shut up. You told Rui about magic yourself! Can't blame me!"

She left them to their argument and slipped away into the kitchen. Well, she'd might as well see what she could find.

Eventually Jun and Uriel stopped their playful bickering and Jun walked into the kitchen.
"See anything you want me to make?" he asked Rui-chan, hoping that she'd give him something specific. He'd really hate to cook something she didn't want when she was being so hospitable. And thankfully she'd basically agreed to wear the bracelet Uriel could make. That would make matters much simpler.

"Surprise me," she said, just gesturing around, "Just make whatever you want and can, and I'll gladly eat with you."
