"I love it, but...I think about my father, how he left my mother and myself. I love it, but...it brings back those memories."

She nodded her head in understanding. "Yeah, I get that. I was really lucky I never liked what my parents did. Didn't have that conflict."
"What about your mother? Were you close to her?" If so that would be more than Charlotte had. Neither parent could be bothered with her. She was raised by a bunch of nannies until she was old enough not to need a babysitter.

"Yeah," he said, "We were close, of course. Without my father, we were all we had."

"I'm almost jealous. I don't even know why my parents bothered to have a kid." Hmm...the balance of emotions wasn't quite right. She erased the eyes and tried again.

He took up his things again and started to pain once more, "I'm sorry to hear that," he said.

"It's not something you need to feel sorry about. I probably wouldn't be here if it weren't for them." Charlotte laughed. "The first thing I stole was my mother's beloved pearl necklace."
She grinned at the memory. "My parents went nuts until I returned it. Of course I didn't let them know I was the one that took it. They would not have been happy with me."

He smiled, "I imagine not. So, do you still steal from people close to you?" he asked.

She laughed. "Proximity speaking or no? I happened to live in the same house as my parents but I wouldn't really consider us close. Now, I more steal from stuff that is really well guarded just to see if I can."
She smirked. "Why, worry I'll steal something you care about?"

"Honestly? Yes," he told her.

Charlotte chuckled. "Good you should be. But maybe not that much. I seriously doubt they're guarded enough to prove an interesting challenge."
"But don't worry. I always return them in a few days," she promised. She gestured to her paper incomplete Hermes. "Hermes is my thief name. I picked him because he doesn't care about the profit. He's the mischievous, trickster god. He stole Apollo's cows to see if he could pull it off. And he returned them."

"And are you just a mischievous prankster then?" he asked.

She laughed. "I admit that I like to stir up a commotion every now and again but it's just thrilling to try and steal what's so well guarded. I very much enjoy it. But I suppose I'm mischievous enough to want people to know what I've done and cause a little panic. Otherwise I'd just break in and not take anything."

"Mischievous makes you sound like a child," he smiled. "Not in a bad way."

"It's to emphasize that I don't try to cause real harm. And I suppose it's childish in a sense. There's nothing practical about it. It's just...something I enjoy."
She smirked. "And I'm sure you're aware that Hermes wasn't just a mischievous prankster. He had a large sphere of influence and a lot of important roles. He was the crosser of boundaries. He was the only god who could freely move between worlds. No other god had the ability to visit Hades."
She grinned. "Known for being quick and cunning. Definitely my favorite god."

"So, just how quick and cunning are you, Charlotte?" he asked.
