Clara beamed when Caterina said she was never a bother.
"Really?!" she asked eagerly. "I never bother you?!" She was too excited by this revelation to answer the later question. She was used to being called troublesome, irritating, stupid...The list went on and on.

Caterina nodded, "You are kind and compassionate to others and you are always concerned about others. That makes you a very good person that people would want to be around," she said.

Clara simply smiled, pleased beyond measure at all the praise that had been heaped upon her. First Harper thought she was useful. And now Caterina was telling her she was a good person and that others liked having her around?! She wasn't just a burden, a nuisance?!
Clara took a bold step forward, preparing to hug Caterina. But then she froze. What if she made her angry?! She looked to Caterina hesitantly.

"I...Um...Would it be okay if I hugged you?!" she asked, squeezing her eyes shut in fear. "I mean...I'm sorry! It was a stupid question! Never mind!"

Clara hesitantly opened her eyes and took a timid step forward. She slowly and delicately wrapped her arms around Caterina and stiffened, expected the girl to push her away or hit her.

Caterina did nothing that Carla feared instead she wrapped her arms around Carla and hugged her back...to then go back to sleeping again as she snored lightly.
