Nichol noticed the moisture, and sniggered, before walking out of the room, making a point to step very loudly, and headed to his bedroom to fetch something.

Nichol came back minutes later, walking slowly and loudly so that they could hear and anticipate his return.

They both noticed he seemed to be trying to build the suspense, and it was working. Quite well, in fact. Both girls hadn't moved an inch, waiting.

Annabelle twitched, mumbling. Roxy was significantly louder.

With a smirk, Nichol raised his arm, striking Annabelle hard across the rump with the crop four times, each enunciating a word. "I. Didn't. Hear. You."

Each strike elicited a cry louder than the first she'd given, but not quite as loud as Roxy's.

"Much better, but you're not really in harmony." He paused to smack them both with tremendous speed, causing a loud doubled thwack that vibrated all of the ropes. "Like that. Sing in duet, and be very careful to match. I've got a sharp ear for music, after all."

Both girls cried out, Roxy certainly louder than Annabelle. Annabelle was enjoying this too much to give ground.
