Rui was being visited at the flower shop this day by her family. Her younger brother, her mother, and her grandmother. They were happy that she was helping out, but were worried about her working too much and neglecting school. She wanted to keep working, to help the family, though.
There was one problem. Someone had come in to buy flowers to put at his wife's grave. The problem was that he had murdered her, had gotten away with it, and was brimming with Inga. When Rui handed him a rose, the Horror took action as the man began to depart. A Horror was born, and there were four people here to devour...

Jun had finally seen fit to come to Vol City. He'd procrastinated as long as possible but when he finally ran out of excuses for delays he'd shown up. Uriel had warned him about a Horror threat nearby and so Jun had come as per his duty.
Jun saw the Horror but it wasn't alone. Four other people were present. This made him slightly more motivated than usual. Never the dedicated knight, he did his duty and no more; but, when he actually saw people who could be devoured by Horrors he did try his best to protect them. He at least didn't want to see people suffer right in front of him, for the most part.
Cool and collected, he called out a warning to the other people as he ran towards the Horror with his spear. "All normal people, stay back! This is not something you want to mess with!"

Rui and her family were confused. What was this guy talking about?
The man with the flower "shattered" and reformed in darkness, becoming a dark, sickly rose-man hybrid. It screeched an unearthly screech and lashed sickly, thorn-filled vines out through the room, primarily for Jun, but also back for the family, to devour them.

Shit! Shit! Shit! Those vines would definitely be a problem for mere humans. Jun leaped back, forming a protective stance in front of the family. He spun his spear and tried to knock away or cut through as many as possible. He wouldn't be able to take care of them all but hopefully those that actually made contact would only hit him.
"Seriously, normal humans. GET OUT OF HERE!" He shouted the last part not because he was losing his cool but because sometimes a little yelling could get the lead out for scared humans.

Rui looked at her family. They were better off running than she was, stuck behind the counter. It would take her a moment to get over or around it.
"Run!" she told them, climbing over it and knocking things to the ground in the process. That wasn't good, but this looked like a matter of life or death.
As her family went for the door, the Horror unleashed bladed petals. They flew for the three of them, intending to cut them down.

"Son of a bitch, Uriel! It never goes smoothly when normal humans are involved!" he cursed, relying on his super human reflexes to propel him back in front of the door and the three fleeing members. He was well trained and his spear moved swiftly attempting to slice through all the bladed petals. With his spear moving in a whirl wind formation and him standing for the most part in front of the three family members, he hoped the three would be spared from injury and that they'd actually have time to get out the door. Protecting one person would definitely be easier than safeguarding four.

Rui didn't know where to go, or how to get around the Horror to try to get out, so she stayed put, even if she was kind of in the open now. She just didn't know what to do.
The Horror ran for Jun, swinging a claw down at him, retracting the vines for now.

Thank goodness! At least the Horror was focused on him for the moment! He would keep it that way! The Horror was too close for Jun to effectively use his spear. He threw out his left arm to contend with the blow as much as possible. There was a burning sensation as blood was drawn but Jun was a Makai Knight. If he could see this through and he had no doubt he would after all the Horrors he had slayed, he'd heal quickly. He immediately moved to punch the Horror with his right fist. This was followed by a firm right kick. If he could force the Horror back a little he could rely on some spear thrusts. But at the same time he didn't want to be the one who moved back. He needed to keep the Horror's attention fixed on him and not the girl.

The Horror was pushed back and unleashed a storm of vines and leaves for Jun from its chest, trying to ensnare and cut him down. It turned its head and looked at the family, and reached out, unleashing vines from its arm, sealing the exit.

"Fan-fucking-tastic," Jun said with a sigh, while precisely swinging his spear, slicing through the vines meant for him. "Now I'm going to have work overtime," he complained. There was no way the family was escaping now. Since he needed to babysit four people, his movements would be severely limited. He couldn't be as efficient as normal. He would need to take great care to ensure that no one here was tainted by Horror blood.
He didn't want to cut down any more humans. He made sure the killing strike was quick and relatively painless. Jun pierced the center of the heart with his spear. There were no mistakes in those cases. His aim was perfect and the person faded quickly. Still, it was a really gruesome business. He didn't want to go through that again.
Jun thrust his spear forward, aiming for the Horror's chest, meanwhile deciding which human to prioritize. Ideally he'd be able to protect them all. However, as a matter of practicality it was best to select a single target to guard so that he wouldn't hesitate and end up losing everyone in the worst case scenario..

The Horror stumbled away after being stabbed. It let out a ghastly hiss and shot its left arm out for Jun. The long claw-like fingers became vines, snaking out at the Makai Knight. All the while the Horror's back began to bubble and something was sprouting out, slowly.

The vines snaked out and wrapped around Jun's left arm. He pulled back, trying to give himself some distance from the Horror, and busied himself with slicing at the vines with his spear. They were thick and tight, already restricting the blood flow in Jun's arm. It would be no easy task to sever them.
He noticed the Horror's back bubbling. Well that certainly couldn't be good. "Hey humans, no matter what happens don't let anything from that creature touch you," he instructed in a commanding tone. "Just try and stay back as much as possible," he amended, still struggling to break the Horror's hold on his arm. At least his right arm was free. If necessary he could still stab at the beast. Just...range could be a problem.

"Rui!" the mother was calling to her daughter. The girl didn't know what to do though. Did she risk crossing past the fighting to get to her family? To the sealed door?
The Horror's back broke open and snaking vines erupted out, gripping at the three family members like spiked tentacles, impaling and crushing them, and then sucking their bodies dry. Their corpses fell to the ground, empty of life and blood.
Rui just screamed for her family.

Jun was upset, frustrated that he couldn't protect those other people. But he didn't have the luxury of becoming emotional. There was one person remaining. It looked like the decision of who to prioritize had been made for him. He needed to at least ensure Rui's safely.
Basically keeping a cool head, but still a tad bit angry, Jun finally sliced through the vines that held his arm. Time to get serious!
He swung his spear in the air, creating a Halo over his head. He was encompassed with light and when the light faded he was in his armored form, mounted on his Mado-Horse, Hayate.
Hayate needed little guidance. He galloped towards the Horror and Jun prepared to run him through with his spear. He just hoped the other girl would listen and stay back. He didn't want to lose another person.

Rui cried out for her family and tried to run to them.
The Horror was run through with Jun's spear. It had been slowed down by the absorption process. Blood sprayed out from the Horror as Rui was trying to get to her family's corpses. They were her entire world, and...and they had died before her eyes.
The Horror blood splashed onto Rui as she ran past and fell to her knees at their bodies, crying and grabbing at them. They couldn't be dead!
