Overview: Harper is a natural peacemaker. She doesn’t like fighting, and she doesn’t like seeing others fight, so she’s always the one to try and fix conflicts. She knows full well she could simply use the Touch to fix any problem, but she always feels bad, completely taking away the will of another person, even if that other person is really only a computer program most of the time. She tries to refrain from using it as much as she can.

Harper was a technological child ever since her parents found her sitting at the goliath of a family computer they had in the 90’s when she was only 3. She grew up engrossed in technology, eventually becoming quite the skilled programmer, until she learned of the existence of computer games. She was in love immediately. She began playing and playing, and eventually began entering in local gaming tournaments and winning. She became known as the best gamer in Iowa, not much of an achievement.
She moved to Chicago to attend university, and entered tournaments there as well, finding more challenging competition but still managing to eke out wins. She quickly became a nationally-ranked PC gamer, and she was invited to a strange tournament, the “Sword of Light Invitational”. She won in her category, placing second overall in the tournament itself, and learned her reward was to test a completely new kind of MMORPG- a full-immersion virtual reality game. She accepted, and started playing along with the other 4 top-placers at the tournament.
Inside, it was amazing. They soon found, to their collective horror that they couldn’t log out. Something had happened, had gone wrong with the system, preventing them from logging out until they won the game. So the group split up, each going off in their own way. Later, Harper found that the company had opened the game to more players, and she’s been working to try and get out, just so she could return to her life.
