Overview: Makoto is loud, brash, and tends to get into scraps, be it virtual or in real life. She tries to act like a cool big sis to the other scouts when she can. When her sister died, she took on her spirit and has been following down his sister's path since then, pushing her own hopes and dreams aside. She enjoys being a Scout and the guitarist for a heavy metal band, she really does, but sometimes she wonders what would have happened if she went down another path.

Makoto wasn't always Makoto. She was born Mako, a boy. Her parents came from Japan and settled in North America, New Hampshire to be precise. They moved to be closer to Mako's older sister who lived there. She had moved to America herself a few years back in order to form her own heavy metal band called Dead Master. They become a minor success, but had made enough money for her family to afford to come live with her.

Mako loved his sister dearly and they spent much time together, despite their twelve year age difference. Unbeknownst to Mako and their parents, his sister was secretly a Sailor Scout. Sometimes when she said she was practicing with her band, she was actually fighting monsters and keeping the city safe. Mako followed his sister once, hoping to see her action, only to really see her in action.

Unfortunately for his sister, she noticed his presence and that split second of letting her guard down - cost her her life... Mako was never the same after that. How could he after witnessing his sister's murder by a malicious Hell-beast? Eventually Mako discovered his sister's diary and learned all about the Sailor senshi and their mission to protect the Earth.

Mako was resolute in taking on his sister's spirit and continuing her mission as his Sailor. He just wasn't sure how to actually become a Sailor... He theorized that maybe becoming more like his sister would help him somehow. So when he was older he gathered a bunch of talented guys and formed his own band Valhalla.

They played a few gigs here and there, scrapping by. Mako saved up his money and the money he received from his parents to get gender reassignment surgery. It was a tough decision to make, but he became quite resolute to continue on this path by then. His parents and bandmates were uncomfortable with the new Makoto at first, but they eventually came to accept who she had become.

With their "new" frontwoman, however, Valhalla surged in popularity, eventually even getting to play at the American Music Awards and selling out concerts nationwide. It was during one of their tours that their bus was attacked by a giant spider creature. Makoto fought it off with a microphone stand while her bandmates cowered behind her.

It was during this confrontation that her Star Seed activated and her Sailor powers ushered forth. Makoto had done it, she would finally be able to continue her sister's mission as Sailor Jupiter.
