Clothes: Shotaro alternates between two main types of clothing. One is motorcycle boots, dark jeans, a button up shirt and vest with tie. The other, a more professional look, consists of nicer shoes, dress pants, suit jacket and tie with button up shirt, primarily for when he has a more professional job to do. When at home he’s usually in dressing gown rather than dressed. He wears a longcoat in the winter.

Overview:
Shotaro is essentially living what amounts to a lie. He attempts to model his life on Sherlock Holmes, and attempts to become the man in personality, despite that not being who he is, but he doesn’t care. It’s who he feels he needs to be. He needs to keep people away, and he needs to do his job well. This gets him both results.

He attempts to act cold, and isolated, he wants to drive people away from him on a personal level, and be solely a professional. He feels lonely and isolated doing this, but he knows that it’s for the best, and just powers on with that knowledge. He wishes he didn’t have to be this way, but he’d rather not have people get attached to him.

He’s spent a lot of time working on criminology, chemistry and psychology in an attempt to understand and deduce, and so that he can be the best he can be in the field. He hasn’t bothered to study other things outside of what he was required to in school, and has attempted to forget them. He does think he’s gone a bit far to try to model himself that much after Sherlock Holmes, but it’s not like he’s going to live long.

He fights constantly with who he really is. He’s a man who’s headstrong and wants to see justice done, despite what the law says. As a detective he’s bound to follow the laws, but as Shotaro he’s willing to do whatever he must. He’s strong on his principles and is incredibly loyal and honorable. He tries to retain his sense of honor, but can’t always when he’s working. He is always loyal, however, to everyone around him.

He’s respectable and shows respect back to those who truly earn it. He tries to show it to everyone, but not everyone deserves it. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t a decent human being. He’s just less of one on the job, in his attempts to emulate Holmes. He’s a careful and always cautious, but does rush in recklessly sometimes.

He has no real hobbies or anything outside of work. He figures he’s going to die soon, so he’d might as well just devote everything he can to the law and to his job, so he focuses on learning more and being able to better himself as a detective, and as a law enforcement professional.

He enjoys tea, and often doesn’t eat, not finding much need. He finds minimal sustenance and doesn’t really regret it. He finds solace in silence, being alone, but does enjoy jazz very much. That’s about the only thing he tolerates other than silence when he’s alone. There was once a time when he enjoyed the company of animals and others, but that’s long past.

Shotaro was born to a poorer family in Fuuto, but he got some care, at least. He was an outcast among his peers during his years of schooling, and always felt that burden upon himself, never really trying to fit in, even. He just remained an outcast.

As he grew older he grew ill, and was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. He would have about fifteen years to live (until he was about twenty six or twenty seven, the doctors believed), and there was nothing that could be done. His parents tried to find answers, but there was nothing. Shotaro grew to accept it.

His only friend from school had become a detective in Fuuto years later, and Shotaro (knowing that his friend had police interests) had read and studied on fields that would be useful. He ended up trying to work alongside his friend, and became something of a consult. He was paid (to an extent), but wasn’t a formal detective.

Somewhere along the way he obtained his Blood Driver and Memory. The diseased blood somehow worked with the Memory and could transform it from a blank into the Blood Memory for him.

Shotaro essentially gave up on life, and is now working through life one day at a time, trying to do whatever he can for his city before he dies.
