- Has lost much of his power

Habits/ Quirks:
- Rubs his ring absentmindedly a lot
Relationships:
Overview: Even in death, Mentor is one snarky bastard. His skills in sarcasm are legendary....to him, at least. He is something of an old romantic, longing once again for the days of courtship and chivalry, yet secretly enjoying the loss of gallantry and virtues, and all the while moping about how he can’t touch anything properly. Over the course of a thousand years, he has learned to mellow out from what he was previously, becoming a calmer, and more stoic individual. On principle, he doesn’t trust the Council, and especially not the Minister. Having been evil himself, he knows when and how to recognise it in others.

History
Over 10 centuries ago, there lived a lad called Hrothbert in the town of Stonecircle. He was a good, intelligent lad, who held a belief that he would one day be the greatest wizard who ever lived. It was a noble aspiration, and he certainly seemed to be able to live up to it. It seemed there was no finer wizard in Stonecircle.
However, the proverb “power corrupts” was never truer than in the case of Hrothbert of Stonecircle. As he amassed more and more magical power, it seemed that he could never be satisfied. To that end, he rooted out some old Grimoires from a nearby Barrow and began dabbling in the forbidden realms of Black Magic. From these tomes, he learned foul rituals and enchantments, which increased his power, as well as his hunger for said power.
At age 30, Hrothbert wrote his first spell book, the Grimoire du Vide et Désespoir (Book of Emptiness and Despair), which detailed several dark spells copied from the books he found in the Barrow, along with some of his own creation. Following that was his creation of the Grimoire du Colère, Faim et Peur (Book of Anger, Hunger and Fear), a book full of original spells. Both are banned texts. Hrothbert’s lust for power led him to sacrifice many a person, enthral many an apprentice, and conduct many a dark and terrible ritual, culminating in the sacrificing of all of his apprentices to amass vast amounts of dark power.
At the height of his triumph, however, he was defeated, and brought before the royal court of Magic Land. It was decided that he was to be punished for all eternity. Hrothbert thought they were going to kill him. It was not so. Instead, his soul was ripped out of his body and bound to a Transformation Ring, turning him into an apparition. To add insult to injury, he was commanded to use his knowledge of magic to advise both the Royals and the Council of Thirteen, serving as something of an addition to their sizable compendium of magical knowledge. Though initially confined to the library, he has been granted a little more liberty, being able to wander where he wishes.
