Overview:  Erika is a seemingly cheerful and carefree girl who sets everyone at ease with her sweetness.  However, she’s no where near as happy go lucky as she appears.  She is a very traumatized individual plagued by dark thoughts and concerns about the future. However, she prioritizes everyone’s happiness above her own.  She can’t stand to see people suffer. She will hide her own feelings to make others feel more comfortable until she simply can’t contain her emotions anymore and they boil over. When it comes to the safety of others, she is capable of being violent for the greater good.  Still she cries for every creature she is forced to kill.  She feels like there should be a better way, like there should have been some way to save them. Even if no physical sign of the creature remains when the battle is over she will leave a flower in the place she last saw them and pray that their soul find peace.

She wants to believe in the best of people; but, given everything she has seen and experienced she finds that impossible. On first glance it looks as though she trusts everyone instantly without question. However, it takes quite a long while for anyone to truly gain her trust. They don’t have to do anything special. They simply need not betray her for a while.  Even after gaining her trust it is difficult for her to truly open up with anyone.  She doesn’t wish to worry others.

Erika is incredibly responsible, looking after both her father and younger brother.

Originally Erika had a fairly happy childhood.  She was born to two parents who loved her dearly. Her father was a surgeon and her mother was a detective.  Unaware of magic she never-the-less felt connected and in tune with water.  She started swimming from a young age.  She was very good and very quick.  She never felt more free than when she was in the wonder. Unlike most kids she loved taking baths since she was surrounded by water.

Unfortunately, there was a darker side to her affinities.  When she was fully rested and not even sleepy there were times where she would drift off.  She would see things, dark terrible things. Catastrophes. Destruction.  Murderers.  Originally she would come crying to her parents about the matter and they’d comfort her but then they realized that these ‘nightmares’ always came true, exactly as she saw it. Her parents became troubled and frightened and so she kept her visions although she was not aware at the time that they were visions to herself.

She longed to change the horrible things she saw or at least minimize the effect. If she knew the location she’d go there and try to steer people clear of the area. If she knew the person she’d try to change their plans. But she could only see one possible result, not how it was reached.  The majority of the time she could not change the dark things she saw.

She was very close to her younger brother Jun.  She adored him and tried to look out for him the best she could.  Besides her visions, everything was fine. But it was a burden, not being able to confide about her visions to anyone. Still she smiled and played the cheerful girl. And most of the time she was that way.  She didn’t have visions every day.

In school she was the fastest member on the swim team. She very much loved her swim practice and swim meets.

When she was 13 her mother was murdered.  It was a weekend but her father was working.  Jun was at a friend’s house. Her mother was feeling tired so she asked Erika to pick up some groceries.  It was dark by the time she got back.  When she came back and went into the living room there was blood everywhere.  Her mother had been shot. She saw a person fleeing. There were police sirens so he didn’t stick around.

She was able to identify the culprit but he was found not guilty. It was dark and Erika’s testimony hadn’t been enough to sway the jury even though she knew what she saw.

Her father lost it after the death of their mother.  He couldn’t be a surgeon anymore. What point was there in saving lives when he couldn’t save the life of the person most dear to him?  After that Erika was basically in charge of house affairs. She woke up both her father and brother.  She got her dad together enough to work some part time jobs.  He was a broken man but he still needed to work as Erika was too young at this point.  But Erika did all the book keeping and took care of all the grocery shopping.  She made all the food and took care of practically everything.

For the most part despite small breakthroughs she hasn’t been able to bring her father back to the way he was. But she at least needs to secure her little brother’s future.

Her grades were good enough for her to go practically anywhere but she chose Pitt University. It was a good school and it was close enough that she could commute to classes.  She could save money and still take care of her family.

When she was 21 she had a vision of a woman in Japan being killed by something she couldn’t describe. She scavenged her money and flew to Japan.  She knew the location and roughly the day.  She was surprised to discover that the woman was her aunt. Her mother never spoke of her family in Japan. Her aunt explained that she was a magi, a blue mage and that it was her destiny to protect people. Her ‘nightmares’ weren’t nightmares but visions and proof of her power.  She gave her both a crystal ball and Magiphone, capable of transforming her into the Blue Magiranger.

She continued to explain how her mother had fled Japan because she didn’t want her children to be involved with such a harsh destiny.  That was why her mother would only speak of Japanese culture, not her own family.  The crystal ball would help Erika focus her visions. They wouldn’t need to be entirely random anymore. She could seek things out through meditation. Though she’d never be able to see her own future. And she could try to get more details from the visions she saw without the crystal ball.  And the Magiphone would transform her to help prevent her visions from coming true.

Erika managed to transform and save her aunt’s life.  She then returned to America. The crystal ball frightened her more than anything else.  Before the visions had just come to her. Now it was her responsibility to try and divine the future. If she didn’t others could suffer. But when she looks into the crystal ball all she ever sees is suffering and catastrophe.  The experience is very taxing. But she feels the need to look into her ball continuously to try and protect the innocent.

She was busy enough before, trying to graduate from college and take care of her father and younger brother as well as prevent the visions she randomly saw.  Now she’s seeking the visions herself and trying to better decipher them and protect as many people as possible.  All while appearing to the world as this cheerful carefree girl. She hopes she can continue this without snapping; but, she’s aware that if you bottle too much up one day you’ll explode.  She doesn’t dwell on this thought, though. She tries to do the best she can and save as many people as possible.  She still mourns those that need to be killed.  She writes their names down in her notebook or their descriptions if she doesn’t have a name.  She never wants to forget them.  She feels like she’ll losing something important if she does.
