"He said he found it in a book. He must have specifically found the book and used that spell." Alladin replied. "And Death is not a sentient being, it is a concept. The magic stands a high chance of backlashing and killing the caster, which is half the reason why it was outlawed."

Erika was still skeptical. You could use a spell without really comprehending the scope of its power. Erika had never even seen a spell book. She'd been developing her gifts on her own and things certainly didn't always go according to plan. She shamefully recalled the time she accidentally killed an animal. It was an emergency and there had been no water nearby for her to manipulate and she had needed to defend herself from a threat. She had made her shield by drawing upon the water from an animal. She had taken too much and it had died. But that was no the intention!
"Why should it be outlawed if the result can kill the caster? Shouldn't it just be 'user beware'. With great force of will and determination surely the backlash can be minimized and the spells can be used for good means," she insisted.
She didn't bother to comment on the other mage again. She had no intention of promising to stay away from him. Mr. Waynguard was biased against him due to the phone and the comment about his father. He'd never consider that the man was anything besides a dark mage, especially since he had used a dark spell whether intentionally or unintentionally.
