Overview:

She is a charming, cheerful, and a slightly naive individual.  She wants to believe in the best of humanity.  “So what if I’m betrayed? It’s better than doubting everyone.” She’s not foolish enough to take what everyone says at face value; but, she doesn’t assume that just because there’s a hidden agenda that the open agenda is meaningless.  She has witnessed despair and desperation so she knows to be cautious around such people. However, she also thinks those people are the ones that need help the most.  Although careful around people who have done terrible things before, she is a firm believer in second chances.

She’d be lying to herself if she didn’t acknowledge that at some level she is a little bit bitter about her blindness.  However, she is still optimistic; and, she always tries to focus on the positive.  She is grateful that at least she didn’t go completely blin until she was 10 so she remembers, for the most part, what things looked like. She of course wishes that she didn’t go blind but she knows that wishes themselves won’t accomplish anything. Instead she’s trying to find mages that could perhaps magically cure her blindness. Although this a second priority to protecting people.

Music is the world to Lucilla.  She loves the piano more than life itself.  She constantly plays it and even when she’s not playing it she often thinks about it.  She composes pieces for her to perform and she hopes to one day become a famous musician.  She doesn’t care about the money aspect but music cheers her up and she’d be so happy if her music could bring comfort and joy to many other people.

Lucilla loves birds but she doesn’t keep any as pets.  She couldn’t imagine locking them in a cage. They’re better off flying free in the sky. She’ll often go to parks to feed them. She loves hearing them chirp.

Unlike most people she loves to sleep.  In her dreams she can always see.  Even in her nightmares she can see the horrors that assault her.  She is always somewhat reluctant to wake up to a world without sight.

She really values her independence.  She has to struggle more than most in may ways; but, she is capable of living on her own and taking care of herself. Even if people are trying to be kind she refuses to allow them to help her more than common courtesy dictates.

She can be a little bit vindictive if people look down on her or assume she’s weak.  When someone snuck behind her and punched her in the face and ran off she chased after them, using her echolocation and punched them back.

  Fighting Style: She prefers close quarters combat so she can easily tell where her opponents are through feel.  She relies on her judo moves whenever possible, switching to weapons only when absolutely necessary. She prefers her sword to the gun because that is still close quarter fighting. Her fighting style is all about the momentum of another person's body working with hers. It’s what makes it possible for her to throw people who are bigger than she is. When she is forced to fight at a distance she can cope due to her enhanced hearing, sense of smell, and echolocation. But being right up and in their faces is the goal.

Lucilla was diagnosed with Cone-Rod Dystrophy when she was five years old. Her parents were informed that she would likely become blind.  They loved their daughter dearly and wanted her to be as independent as possible even if she should become blind. They started researching the matter and looking for aids and instructors who could help her. They started teaching her brail at the same age she was learning regular writing.  They also had her instructed in Human Echolocation.

After her vision worsening for several years, she became completely blind when she was 10. Having been prepared for this day for some time she kept going to public schools. Originally she had an aid help her but later the aid was dismissed as the parents did not want Lucilla to become reliant on her and Lucilla also wanted to be self sufficient.  Without her vision she became more fond of music and took up piano.  

One day, in fourth grade someone sneaked up on her, thinking they’d prank the blind girl and punched her in the face.  Lucilla chased them down using her echo location and slugged them back. She then told her parents she wanted to take up Judo. She wanted to feel that she could defend herself if someone attacked her. Her parents thought it was a good idea as it would give her confidence if nothing else.  She trained hard and became very proficient.

She went to college to study music. When she was 19 she came across someone being mugged by a group of thugs. She used her judo skills and they ran away.  Someone who had been watching gave her a device that allowed her to transform into the avian bringer of justice - Blue Swallow. They pressed the device in her hand explained how to use it and simply left. She doesn’t know who they were and she’s never found them since. Since then she's been fighting injustice as the Blue Swallow.

Recently she met a strange fellow named Ankh. He loved the way she played the piano and they bonded over their love of birds. He says some really strange things but she’s really rather fond of him and wants to get to know him better.
