Overview:
Charlotte is a woman with serious trust issues. Every time someone speaks to her or offers to do something nice for her she tries to think what the person has to gain from such an action. She always assumes everyone’s trying to use her. She doesn’t believe anyone cares about her and she’s convinced herself that she’s fine with that.
Although she doesn’t believe in human kindness and she doesn’t care about collecting friends or acquaintances she isn’t anti-social. She’ll talk to people if she needs their expertise and she can respect people for their various skills. But even if she admires someone she won’t try to form a deeper bond. She’ll also talk to complete strangers. She embraces the freedom of not trying to win others to her side. She says exactly what’s on her mind, not caring if she shocks or horrifies others.
When it comes to her work she’s very methodical. She likes to have a detailed plan before heading into a situation. And she’s very patient with the planning stage, figuring that if something is worth doing it’s worth doing right unless there are complications and speed is of the essence. Although she’s very fond of her detailed plans she never actually expects them to go off without a hitch. To her plans are created simply so that you have a starting point. They’re meant to be improvised as needed. She’s very clever and quick witted so she does adapt quickly when her plans prove problematic. She’ll hear people out, looking for the best way to approach a situation. If her plan isn’t the best then she’ll defer to another teammate’s idea. She still won’t trust them but acknowledge at this moment in time that their idea is preferable.
Charlotte is practically incapable of talking herself out of a situation as she’s been brusque with others for a long time and hasn’t bothered to cater to anyone’s needs. Her strengths are that she’s incredibly stealthy and she has very fast reflexes. Once caught she’ll try to cause some sort of distraction and flee. She can fight but would prefer to find a way around it as fighting isn’t her real strength either.
Charlotte brings her quick reflexes, mythological experience, topographical experience, and thieving experience to the team. She’s also really good at researching. She uses her mythology and topography to determine where potential targets are likely to reside. (On her own she can’t determine if they’re real or fake.) Once they’ve verified a location and come up with a plan (her’s, someone else’s or a combination) she can be relied on for her stealth, finesse, and quick fingers.
She doesn’t care about what’s best for the group per say but she acknowledges that group is quite competent and useful for retrieving treasures so in general she’ll try to make sure everyone is fine. However, if it came down to saving her own skin or sacrificing herself for the good of the group, she’d pick herself without hesitation.
There’s no risk of her trying to make off with the treasure because she really doesn’t care about it at all after it’s obtained. The group or the organization can do whatever they want with it. It no longer concerns her at that point.
She doesn’t really have much of a life outside of treasure hunting. Thoughts of well guarded treasures haunt practically every waking moment. When she’s done with a mission she’ll instantly jump into research mode to try and find the next target. Although she still does enjoy a little thieving and returning what she stole on the side.

History
Charlotte was born into a really wealthy family. However, her parents were far too busy with their work to ever spend much time with her. She was instead raised by a group of nannies. Charlotte could have whatever toys she wanted but she wasn’t happy. She wanted parents that would make her lunch and spend time with her, not have other people do these things for them. She became bitter and resentful. She figured her parents didn’t love her or want her.
Charlotte tried to fill the gap her parents left with friends. But she soon found out that her friends weren’t really friends. They were just coming over to her house sot hey could have nice snacks and play video games or watch television on her big TV. Or so that they could go swimming in their large pool or something. Originally she became more withdrawn. Her parents didn’t want her. She didn’t need friends that didn’t want her too. She wouldn’t try to make friends anymore. She spent her time solving puzzles instead. Eventually she embraced a sort of freedom in not being attached. She could say what she wanted without repercussion. If she wasn’t trying to win anyone over she could speak her mind without a second though.
Charlotte grew bored as well as bitter. She didn’t have friends to play with. Her parents were never around but she had everything she could possibly ask for in terms of toys and technology. It was so dull. One day, when she was particularly bored she decided she’d make her parents pay for always ignoring her. She would figure out how to crack the safe in her parents’ room and steal the pearl necklace her mother was so proud of.
She did a lot of research on her own and sneaked out to the slums to find other people who could help her learn. She wondered if it was best to pretend to be starving but in the end she just gave people money to teach her the tricks of the trade. She cared little for it.
She managed to successfully steal her mother’s pearl necklace but afterwards she felt empty. The necklace itself meant nothing. It was the thrill of stealing it that she loved. She waited until her parents were in an uproar about its disappearance before sneaking it back into the safe.
After that day she became obsessed with stealing. The item itself wasn’t super important although she favored artwork. She would steal anything that was securely guarded, particularly items that were being highly publicized. She would break in, steal the articles, and return them several days later after a big fuss had been made about their disappearance. When she returned them she’d also leave a card with the name Hermes. She chose that name since Hermes was a trickster god and a thief. He’d stolen Apollo’s cows for the thrill of it and to see if he could get away with it.
She went to college and got her degree in Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, specializing in mythology. She believed that old mythologies held grains of truth as to where ancient treasures could be located, treasures that would be very well guarded by traps. She wanted to find said treasures one day. But she wasn’t an archeologist and she knew she couldn’t do it on her own. For the moment she focused on her studies and stealing.
After college she wasn’t quite sure what to do with herself. Treasure hunting wasn’t exactly a profession that she knew of. But her parents were rich so money wasn’t really an issue. She traveled giving her parents the excuse that she was ‘finding herself’. Really she was searching for treasure and continuing her work as Hermes.
One day she was caught as she was returning a painting. She knew her rights and demanded her lawyer and phone call. However, before she could speak to a lawyer she was approached by one of the representing members of a treasure hunter organization. He offered to pull some strings and get her released if she would work for their organization. Originally she thought it was a trick meant to get her to confess to other crimes but the man insisted that it wasn’t a hoax and that no confession was required.
Being incredibly distrustful, she still didn’t believe his offer or that such an amazing organization existed. But figuring she had nothing to lose as she wouldn’t confess and would love nothing more than to be paid to do what she loved she agreed. Much to her surprise, she was released from prison and taken to the organization. She was given a suit and a bunch of gadgets.
Charlotte is a very recent member to the organization so she’s still finding her place on the team and she still doesn’t trust anyone. But she’s happy so long as she can locate treasures. She doesn’t care what’s done with them afterwards. She just loves the thrill of chasing and retrieving them. She’s not concerned about protecting the world from Precious as so far there’s no one in the world she feels really close to.
