Overview:
Rena is a typically a very solemn and somber person, rarely smiling. She says little so typically when she speaks it’s extremely important and people should listen. She doesn’t do small talk. Trying to get her to converse in general is like pulling teeth. The few people who can get her to speak when it is not imperative is her twin Xenia and Jerome.
She can’t stand to see people being hurt or abused in front of her. If she sees such a thing she’ll jump into the fray without a second thought no matter how stacked the odds are against her. She doesn’t want to be anything like the parents who sold their children and allowed horrible things to be done to them.
She refuses to discuss her past with anyone including Xenia and Jerome. She is still greatly haunted by the experiences. If she’d get anywhere near a doctor she’d be diagnosed with post traumatic stress.
She can’t stand when other people complain about having a hard life. She and Xenia suffered more than most and they never complain. Rena will have a break down before she tries to play the pity card. She won’t dignify people with a response but simply coldly glower at them with a murderous gaze.
Rena’s not really a planner. She follows Jerome’s plans and her gut instincts. She doesn’t believe it’s really possible to control much, anyway. She simply responds to situations the best way she can.
She likes to go with Jerome when he goes drinking. If they’re in Europe she can drink with him and if they’re somewhere with a higher drinking age she’ll simply watch and listen. She does a lot of that. She’ll never drink too much because she doesn’t want to greatly impair her senses.
She is very much in tune with her twin. They can typically know what the other is thinking without saying anything. When they speak they’ll often finish each other’s sentences. When they are fighting together there’s no need for hand signals. They’ll intuitively sense what the other is about to do. If Xenia is seriously hurt Rena is usually aware of it even if she’s far away. The same thing does not hold true in reverse, though. Likely this is a result of Rena’s intuition/sixth sense.
Rena has little to no hope left in the world. It’s a cold, dark place where only the strongest and luckiest survive. She doesn’t care about appearing cheerful for others’ sake. Others usually view her as dark and brooding.
Although people who didn’t know her well could misinterpret her solemn attitude as cold and indifferent, she is actually very caring and honorable. She would sacrifice her life for either her twin’s or Jerome’s without hesitation. She might believe that the world’s a cold, cruel place and she might have given up on the fact that it can be changed but that doesn’t mean she’ll tolerate injustice in front of her. She won’t. She does her best to protect anyone who is being wrongfully treated. She’ll get bloodied and beaten without expecting a word of thanks in return. If she is thanked, as she doesn’t speak much, she’ll typically just nod her head in acknowledgment.

History
Rena and Xenia were born into a poor family. When they were five the two of them were illegally sold into slavery. They were smuggled around a lot, moved across countries even. Their daily lives varied depending upon who was in possession of them but they always suffered. Some owners expected them to perform difficult manual labor. They were fed little and still needed to cope. Although the two were always purchased together, twin deal, they weren’t always allowed to stay together once purchased.
One nasty owner had Rena compete in a pit fighting style game. Only the winner got to leave alive. As far as she knows her sister wasn’t involved in anything like that. She never saw Xenia at the fights. She felt terrible about killing but she had to make it back for Xenia. She needed to believe she could see her twin again and that she could be there to protect her.
Rena got her phobia of doctors from one owner interested in conducting experiments with twins. Day after day a doctor would cut into her while Xenia was in a separate room. The study was meant to see if the other twin would experience pain when the other was hurt. A doctor was used to make sure her life wasn’t in danger, that she could always be brought back. As a doctor he understood the human body well and he knew how to cause the maximum amount of pain.
Rena was of course bitter about the experience but she was grateful that she had been the one cut into instead of her sister.
One of their owners had found alien technology. Rena doesn’t know what they did with her sister and the tech all she knew was that Xenia wasn’t exactly the same afterwards. Most of the time her sister would be normal but sometimes she’d say things that made absolutely no sense as if they were perfectly reasonable. There’d be times where she would have various fits. She would throw things and tear at things. Sometimes Xenia would just clutch her head and huddle in a fetal position, repeating certain words again and again. Words that made no sense.
The more time Xenia spent with the tech the more she seemed to deteriorate and act oddly. Rena tried to escape with Xenia, fearing the worst for her sister. But the two never managed to do so on their own. But then Jerome Fetch came to collect the alien tech and he saved them.
Jerome brought the two into the Oracle. They had both learned a variety of skills from their different masters, some the same and some different, but Jerome saw to it that they were properly trained and their skills polished.
Although incredibly distrustful, Rena is completely loyal to Jerome for rescuing them. She trusts him without question and would do anything for him. Anything but talk about her past. She doesn’t know what they did to her sister with the tech so she doesn’t think anything she says would be helpful. She wonders what Jerome thinks about her phobia of doctors and hospitals but she has never broached the subject. He is aware of the issue as she has been seriously injured on a mission before and Jerome, not knowing any better tried to take her to a doctor. With all the fighting they’ve done together he has at least seen some of the incisions on her arms and legs.
