Overview:
Sayuriis a very disciplined woman. She takes her Shinkenger job more seriously than anything else. She is motivated to follow the Bushido code and destroy as many Gedoushu as possible.
She is typically very serious but shows a much lighter side when children are involved. Then she will laugh and tell jokes and generally try to put the children
at ease unless they are misbehaving. Her disappointed glower typically takes care of the troublemakers fairly quickly.
She is a perfectionist who is never quite satisfied with anything she does. She believes the day you stop finding faults in your work is the day you've given up on living. She is super critical of everything from her sword technique, to the way she boils tea, to the way she helps in the kindergarten setting. She is always thinks 'How can I do better?'. Although she acknowledges that she can never reach a state of perfection all the same she will not stop doing something until she's satisfied that it is the best it can be at this moment in time. This rule is only broken when Gedoushu are involved and she needs to rush off to deal with them.
As a perfectionist, she is incredibly patient. She believes that if anything is worth doing it is worth doing right. Time is only wasted if nothing was learned. She very much frustrates people when playing chess. If she's not timed her turns can last forever. If she's in a conversation with someone she'll of course be polite and courteous as the Bushido Code instructs; but, she will not feel rushed to respond quickly. She will take her time thinking up a proper response. She might even play with her word choice before speaking. This is not always the case as sometimes she knows exactly what she wants to say or ask but the possibility exists. Again, she's different when children are
involved as she acknowledges that children have shorter attention spans than respectable adults. For them she will typically respond very promptly.
She is a very kind person who wants to protect as many people as possible. She takes responsibility for all her failures and shortcomings. Usually this trait is admirable but she can take it a bit far. If she lets a Gedoushu escape or allows innocent people to be slaughtered she will return home and try to talk one of her family members into helping her with seppuku. So far they've always managed to dissuade her from such a course, ensuring her that she hasn't shamed the family name and that she's been doing quite well.
When a battle with a Gedoushu is over she doesn't just happily head home. She'll replay the battle in her mind, accessing her mistakes. She'll map out the combat and try to figure out what she could have done differently, how things could have gone better.

History
17 generations ago, a group of samurai came together under the lord of the House of Shiba in order to defeat the monstrous Gedoushu from destroying Japan and the rest of the planet. The powers of the original Shinkengers are passed down from generation to generation in order to combat the Gedoushu and any other non-worldly threat to their country.
Sayuri was raised in the way of the samurai, Bushido, by her father as he knew one day she would become ShinkenPink like her mother before her. Sayuri rarely saw her mother. Her mother was always busy fighting Geoushu and she typically stayed away to protect her husband and child. Her mother would make exceptions for holidays, including Sayuri's birthday.
Sayuri loved training. She loved the idea that she would be able to protect the innocent and the sword fascinated her. She became completely obsessed with the notion of samurai and Bushido. When she had free time she typically devoted it to extra training. As such she didn't really make friends. Hanging out with them wasn't a priority, preparing for her future as ShinkenPink was.
Unfortunately, financial stability was important. Even a Shinkenger needed to eat. She went to a local college so she could commute from home and continue to be instructed by her father. As she was fond of children she studied so that eventually she could work with kindergarteners. She didn't know if she wanted to go through the extra training to become a teacher. You could work at a kindergarten with just a college degree.
She graduated college when she was 22 and was immediately employed at a kindergarten. She continued to live at home with her father as she believed that he still had much to offer her in terms of instruction. She helped pay for the food and such. She enjoyed her work but she understood that it was still secondary.
Her mother died shortly after she was hired. It was a good death. She died gloriously in battle, protecting innocents. Sayuri barely mourned. She had seen her mother little and she was proud of her work, proud of what she died doing. And now it was her turn to take up the fight.
Originally Sayuri was going to resign from her work, figuring that her Shinkenger duties should be her only responsibilities; but, her father talked her out of it. Her complete
dedication to the cause, although inspiring, scared him on some levels. He also didn't like quite how willing Sayuri was to sacrifice herself. He thought it would be good for her to work with children so that she could realize that she does have some life outside of fighting. At least Sayuri's mother had him. Sayuri didn't even have any friends.
Sayuri's father didn't mention any of these reasons. He told her that she couldn't possibly train and fight all the time and that she should work with the kindergarteners because they loved her and she enjoyed herself. He said it was important not to lose sight of the innocents she was protecting. Always holding the advice of her father in very high esteem, she listened to him and kept her job. Although the job is still secondary and she would risk her employment in a heartbeat if the Gedoushu came calling.
