"If you can see me, you might have seen it already." Otoha said. "The spirits in the city are getting sick. There are more in my hospital than I've ever seen before. Plus, y'know, all the Horrors and beasts on the streets. I want to know why there are so many."

Arata nodded. "I wasn't exactly sure what that was but now that you mention it...I suppose it does make sense. Are you able to treat the sick?" he asked. "Hmm...You can interact with physically objects...I wonder." Arata extracted a pair of seemingly ordinary glasses. "Originally I thought my brother would inherit. But I still wanted to try and help even if I couldn't be a knight. I was trained in some magic along with the bow. I tampered with these pair of glasses here," he explained. "When you tap the left side a secondary function overlaps the lens like shades. It allows the wearer to detect certain discrepancies beyond regular human vision. I'm been playing with and I don't fully know its capabilities yet but it might be useful to you. Can you wear them, use them?" Arata asked holding out the glasses to Otoha.

"I run a hospital of sorts in the spirit world." Otoha said, picking up the glasses. "What do I need these for? I can already see spirits. I'm a spirit."

"I don't actually know if they can detect spirits. More disturbances, magical, demonic, and spiritual. If there's a lot of power or energy in one place they'll generally pick up some trace of it," he explained.

"I already have something for that." He handed the glasses back to Arata.

Arata gratefully took them back. He was quite fond of the glasses. He typically didn't need them but he still experimented with them quite a bit. He'd invested a good many hours in them.
"That's good. Hopefully there won't be anything to notice though." Somehow he doubted that would be the case; but, you never knew.
"What about your patients? Are they...worse than normal? Have you been able to properly treat them?" he questioned.

"Welll....yes and no." Otoha said after a moment of deliberation. "It's an illness I've never seen before."

"Can spirits...Die?" Arata asked. "What happens when they get sick?" He had no idea how the spirit world worked. Seeing strange things wasn't the same as understanding them.

"These spirits make Vol City their home. When they get sick, well, you've seen it."

"You mean...Everything that's happening...All these disturbances...They're a result of the spirits being sick?" he asked.
He sighed. "I don't suppose there's anything I can do to help make them better. Seeing alone can't be that helpful."

"I don't know." Otoha shrugged. "It could be one aspect of a bigger problem, for all I know."
"There isn't much on that front. Mortals are sort of forbidden from going to the spirit world while they're alive."

"Why? Will they end up dead or something?" Arata asked. "Arata, don't even think about..." Arata interrupted him. "Zeoul, it's important to try and have a calm head and contemplate the possibilities. Just because something is forbidden doesn't mean it should be. People have made a lot of terrible rules out of fear and ignorance." He turned his attention back to Otoha. "Why is it forbidden?" he repeated.

"Out of necessity." Otoha said. "The spirit world's reserved for the dead. If a living soul goes there, well..bad things happen."

"Worse than what's already happening?" Arata asked. The situation already looked and sounded pretty grave.
