"Whatever you want," she said.
The man didn't speak English.

Xenia ordered a pastry for the two of them to split.
Of course he didn't speak English. She had needed to learn a little bit of French at one point when they were being shuffled around. She tried to recall it. Did she remember the word for beast? She remembered the word for strange. She asked him if he had seen anything strange in French. She had probably butchered the pronunciation but maybe he could understand it enough. Would she get what he'd say in return, though?

The man really didn't understand. He apologized in French and moved along.

Rena sighed; but, she supposed that was to be expected. She hadn't practiced her French in years. But there were plenty of people in France that could speak English. She moved onto another person. "I have some questions for you," she tried again.
"Thank you for coming with me, Kennedy!" Xenia said happily as the waitress returned with their pastry.

Kennedy smiled, "It's no problem, I enjoy spending time with you."
The man understood, "Yes?"

Xenia smiled and cut the pastry in half. She really enjoyed hanging out with Kennedy. "Which half do you want?" she asked brightly.
"Have you seen anything strange lately?" Rena asked the man. "Or have you heard any strange stories?"

"They look the same to me," she said, "I'll take the side facing me already."
"Just the murders," he said.

Xenia took a fork and knife and began to dig into her half.
"Could you please tell me everything you know?" Rena asked politely.

Kennedy did the same.
"A few murders the last few weeks, all at night, that's all I know."

"Mmm! It's so good!" Xenia exclaimed. "We definitely have to come back here when we visit!" she said eagerly.
"Do you know anyone who might know more?" Rena asked him.

She nodded, "Yeah."
He shook his head, "Sorry, but I don't."

"So do you think I'll ever be able to get a pet cow?" Xenia asked Kennedy.
"Thank you," Rena said before moving on. Chances were she wouldn't learn anything useful but if there was a chance she didn't mind the effort. There was a Fangire that needed to die and someone out there might have valuable information.
She pointed her finger at another stranger. "I need to ask you some questions. Have you seen anything strange? Or heard anything strange?"

"I imagine a cow would be a difficult one," she said, "Unless you were on a farm."
The man just shook his head and kept going about his day.

Xenia sighed. "I know! But they're so adorable! Every time I see one I just want to take it home with me!"
Yes, this was probably going to be a fruitless search but it was worth trying. Rena found another person and repeated her questions.

"I don't think I know anyone else who thinks anything like that," Kennedy admitted.
Once more, nothing more than the first man could give.
