Overview:
Malcolm is a man who is calm, composed, and pays attention to everything around him. He aspires to rise in rank, to become the greatest, and do whatever it takes to get there, within reason. He holds his sense of honor tightly, refusing to play the political game to rise in rank; he wants his own merits to carry him onwards.

He’s a man of honor and morals. He works hard to get anything in life, and refuses to take the easy way. It wasn’t easy to become a Dekaranger; an elite police officer. He knows of others who used power or influence to rise through the ranks, and despises them. If you didn’t earn it, then you shouldn’t be involved. He does the right thing whenever he can, no matter what the end result may be, and how bad it might turn out for him.

He’s intelligent and focused, a very hard worker. He studies whatever he has to, as much as he has to, so he can know everything he might need. If he needs something for a case and doesn’t know, he’ll call in a consult, but after it’s over he’ll go and study it so he won’t need a consult again, theoretically.

If there’s a way to rise to the top (that’s honorable) he’ll do whatever he can to get to that spot, to rise. He wants to become better, a better man and a better officer. He figures the higher ranked he is, the better he can do his job. He can organize more people, have more power, and make sure others are doing things the way he does them, that they follow the honorable path.

He’s hard to bring to anger, remaining calm and composed almost all of the time. He cares very much about people, and the only way to really break his composure is to hurt or kill innocent people; that’s too much, that’s when he starts to hate and comes to anger; when the people he needs to protect are hurt.

He is a skilled fighter and marksman, and currently partnered with Alice Stevens, someone he holds in high regard.

History

Born in Australia, Malcolm joined the military when he came of age. His childhood had been extremely generic; nothing of interest happened to him. He had a decent home life, a number of friends, decent grades. Nothing stood out.

He was a good soldier. He was a good marksman and fighter, and did his job well. He left as soon as he could, however, not wanting to get involved in another tour of duty. He ended up enlisting for what was one of the first of its kind; a program to go and learn intergalactic policing techniques.

Later he would learn that it wasn’t something that was open, but it had been planted for him to find. Someone saw potential in him, and wanted him. He trained with others, and eventually earned the right to become a Dekaranger, operating out of Earth.

He did his job well, and was partnered with Alice Stevens, a fellow graduate from his class in the space academy. He became a very honest and good cop, refusing to compromise his morals like others would do in any situation, any job. He wanted to be by the book, he wanted to be good.

He’s been serving the Earth for a few years now, and feels rather good about it.

Overview:
Alice is cool and collected, like her partner. She’s calm, willing to wait long periods of time, and will do things as told. She doesn’t argue, she does as ordered, no matter what. Even if she should argue and do something else, she’s sure her partner or someone else will have it covered.

She’s intelligent and quick thinking. She does what she has to in order to bring someone down, even if it crosses the line. She’s ready for retribution, but she feels sometimes that it’s necessary to cross a line. She won’t cross too far, or cross a line that should never be crossed, but she’s willing to do things.

She is opposed to the game of politics, and works her way through the ranks. She’d like to take the easy way, but knows that Malcolm wouldn’t approve, so she doesn’t. Her desire is still there, however. But she’d rather have him as a partner as long as she could, and even when not his partner anymore, still have him look to her as an equal.

She’s a very skilled cop, and does better in things that happen as she sees them, such as accidents she witnesses, instead of having to dig and use detective skills. She can use them, she was trained to, but she just doesn’t like to. It takes her too long, and she figures those who are better can do it instead.

She’s a good shot, a skilled fighter, and someone who will always back her partner, or anyone else who needs it. She’s a good cop who wants to keep doing her job, and rise. She doesn’t have much of a social life, preferring to remain home alone.

History

As a child, Alice wanted to be a police officer or fire fighter, but was told that those were boy careers. That stuck with her, even if it shouldn’t have. She dedicated herself to beating that stereotype, even if others did on a regular basis. She wanted to beat it in her parents’ eyes.

She put all of her focus into it as she went through school, but she wasn’t good at investigation and stuff like that. She learned this through taking crime classes in high school and college. She was going to enter the police academy, but someone from the Galactic Union Police saw something in her, and brought her back.

She trained in space with them, and became friends with Malcolm. She worked hard, and was assigned to be a Dekaranger on Earth, partnered with Malcolm. That made her happy, but at the same time sad, because she wanted to rise through the ranks, even if it meant playing those political games, but knew she couldn’t with him.

But she is happy to have him as a partner, and is happy just having time to work with him. She knows when they separate it’s going to be sad, but she’ll get over it and move on.
