"Let's hope it remains that way." It was kind of a joke, but maybe not the best thing to say.

Sayuri just laughed. "I will make you at least slightly less cynical!" She leaned up and kissed Kiriha. "At least be optimistic about us, okay?"

"Don't worry, I will be," he told her.

"Good!" Then she sighed. "There's already one person I need to be cynical about. Would you believe I have to bribe Shinken Blue to actually fulfill his responsibilities?!" The matter was an endless source of frustration for her. She couldn't believe someone with his training and power could be so indifferent about the fate of innocent lives. Simply shameful. She couldn't believe he was a fellow brother in arms. She definitely wouldn't consider him a samurai no matter what anyone else said.

"If you ever need me, then contact me," he told her, "I'd take his place, and if he showed up, I'd make sure he knew what he was supposed to do." If this man couldn't adhere to his duties, then of what worth was he? He was supposed to protect lives, and yet he was like this? No. Unacceptable.

She smiled back at Kiriha. "I'll be sure to," she promised. She sighed again. "Unfortunately all of us are just human. We can't be everywhere at once. Things are tight enough on my Kindergarten budget and here I am continuously buying him batteries and new video games when I can afford it just so he'll actually show up if he hears about a disturbance."
"But bribing him is the only way to get him interested in anything besides the digital world. All he cares about are his video games," she said with no small amount of bitterness. She worked so hard to be a valiant warrior, a noble samurai and here Shinken Blue just thumbed his nose at everything he had, everything he could do. To say she was disappointed in her brother in arms would be a gross understatement.

"I can give you money," he told her, "I would be more than happy to. And, like I said, I'd be more than happy to put some sense into that man...or no, he's a boy. A man wouldn't let something like that distract him from his duty, wouldn't act this way."

"I was hoping he'd realize on his own that what he's doing is wrong," she admitted. "I didn't think he'd keep this up as long as he did; but, I made an agreement and a warrior never goes back on his word."
"I don't know if he'd listen to you," she said skeptically. "He can be more difficult than you in terms of making him leave his room!"
She nodded her head in agreement with Kiriha's assessment. "He really does act like a spoiled child. It shouldn't but...It makes me angry to have to acknowledge him as an ally."

"I'll do what I can," he said. He wanted to put some sense into this boy, no matter what, if Sayuri wanted him involved or not.

"Is it wrong to be so upset about him?" she asked Kiriha. "My spirit is supposed to be settled and unbiased but when it comes to him...I just get really angry. I loathe considering him an ally and I just wish Shinken Blue was someone else. It's disgusting, how little care he gives to others well being. You're supposed to be able to completely trust that your brothers in arms has your back and will protect you. But for him...The only thing I trust is that he'll continue to fight so long as I bribe him."

"It's not wrong," he told her, "I understand it completely. I'll see to doing something about him."

"Good luck," Sayuri said with little hope. "For you, I knew that you were a good person at heart despite your..." she chuckled. "Well let's just say less admirable characteristics. But him...If he doesn't care to do the right thing on his own, I don't know what's to be done about him."

She sighed. "If only it were so simple. But it's something you inherit. No one else can inherit until he dies, as far as I know."
