A strange happenstance. An Artifact ping in Ireland, from an unidentified source. So, Kakeru and Claudia, being the most capable of defending themselves, were dispatched, in case something went wrong.

Claudia had actually had a good night's rest for once in her life, and she was rested and ready to rock.

Kakeru was well-rested, but agitated, having a rather bad feeling about the whole situation. "Something stinks. Usually Artie can get a source on these things." He looked around, grumbling under his breath about the overpowering smell of potatoes.

"Potatoes? That's a new one. Usually it's fudge." Claudia commented. "And yeah. It's probably why he sent us instead of some random Fanteria squad."

"It's Ireland. There's potatoes bloody everywhere. And these damn clovers keep getting stuck in my boot plates." He swore under his breath, shaking his leg before a rumbling could be heard in the distance.

"We could pick up a pint on the way back if it'll make you feel better." Claudia said, hearing it too. "I think we found our ping."

"Might. Also, that's no ping. Pings don't growl like that." Kakeru sharpened his eyes and spun to face the sound, as the rumbling grew louder and a bestial growl was heard rather loudly.

Claudia pulled out Dialer. "I can think of one or two that have at some point."

Kakeru sighed, pulling out his Dialer and quickly selecting Croce Pistolo, transforming with a call of "Verto!" as the rumbling and growling grew nearer and nearer.

Claudia selected Dame Danseur d'Epee, transforming with a call of "Armure!" She floated a little above the ground, pistols ready.

Kakeru began to line up his shot, before the growling turned to laughter. "Poor, pitiful little humans. You think your little toys will hurt me." The beast laughed, mocking, as it came into view. It looked nothing like any Parassita they'd seen before, having odd rune-like marks all over its body, and it looked like a large black dog with chains hanging from various parts of its body.

Claudia snapped a pic with her helmet and sent it to Artie, with a short message reading "The fuck is this thing?", all while keeping her guns trained on it.

Artie responded immediately with a series of question marks, his symbol for "not a fucking clue". Meanwhile, Kakeru fired a series of four shots at the beast, swearing under his breath. Unfortunately, it seemed that Kakeru's shots did all of nothing to the beast, which merely chuckled in derision.

"Looks like the thing that popped out when we tried to gas the nest back home." Claudia muttered, figuring that if Kaki's guns weren't doing jack shit, hers would do even less.

"Sort of, but not quite. This one looks jacked-up to eleven, and then jacked up some more." Kakeru sighed, jumping back and shuffling through his card selection, before selecting one and calling out "Verto!", changing into Spada Difesa and putting up a guard as the beast reared up and swung a massive clawed paw at him, sending him skidding back.
