Overview: When Luna's not being the slightly-more-responsible mentor to Sailor Moon, she's about as lazy as they come. While she harbors a deep guilt for being the only survivor of both the Silver Millennium and (as far as she knows) her race, she never lets it show.

Luna, many years ago, was the advisor to Queen Serenity, and loyally assisted the Queen in leading the Silver Millennium. However, when Princess Serenity, the Queen's daughter, destroyed the world in grief of her beloved's death, Luna barely escaped with her life, and she could only watch as it the entire world crumbled. Fleeing back to her home planet of Mau, she isolated herself for a good while before starting her life anew. It was during this time that she realized her Senshi powers, though she wasn't sure how or why she obtained them, and used it to help her people alongside Mau's resident Senshi, Sailor Mau.

A few years later, a group known as the Shadow Galactica, led by Sailor Galaxia, arrived on her planet in order to steal the star seed of the planet's Sailors. While Mau and Luna went to fight them off, only Luna managed to survive, Sailor Mau having taken a fatal blow meant for Luna. Looking in terror as her friend and comrade's Star Seed was taken from her, she quickly turned and fled, finding the nearest ship and leaving Mau to be destroyed, out of fear for her own life. After a long journey, she arrived on Earth and disguised herself as a cat until she detected a great power from one Mikan Tsukino...

From then on, once again assuming her human form, she served as Mikan's mentor, knowing full well that Mikan is the reincarnation of Princess Serenity, and the battle that awaits her and the other Sailor Senshi.
