Things change. That's how life works. But she didn't want things to change, they hurt too much.
It was the day after Christmas, and she didn't care about anything her parents had given her. New pencils and a new sketchbook, which she didn't need yet. She hadn't drawn much lately. She hadn't done much of anything lately...
She looked at the yellow stuffed rabbit in her hands as she walked through her front yard. She stuffed it into the garbage and didn't look back. She just hurried on, away from home. She just needed to distance herself for a few hours.

Itami was walking down the street, wearing her fur overcoat. It had been some time since she spent Christmas outside a prison cell... and for it, she went to the house she was raised in. There were many painful memories there, but Christmas, when her dad wasn't home... it was the happiest day of her year.
Now it's no more, though. Instead, she had to spend Christmas alone. No one there for her, no one to enjoy her company. She was really, truly, alone...

Katsu didn't pay much attention to anyone or anything around her. She just wanted to be in her own mind, even if that was its own form of loneliness. She wasn't sure where she should go, other than walk around until she couldn't feel her legs anymore.

Itami didn't see anyone either, and had bumped her shoulder into a smaller girl who had walked passed her.

Katsu stumbled back on impact, letting out a soft grunt.

Itami looked back at the girl and sighed. "Just great..." she muttered.

Katsu looked at her, confused by her comment.

Itami looked at her, and was about to tell her to watch where she walked... but she saw something in her eyes. The same feeling she had...

"S-sorry...," Katsu said, hurrying along, head down.

"Oi. You," Itami said, enough to get her attention.

She stopped, but it wasn't a smooth stop by any means, more like the startled jolt of a rabbit. She turned quickly, worried.

"Your eyes... who left your life to make your eyes so empty...?"

She trembled a little, having no answer to give.

"You aren't the only one who lost someone, you know."

She didn't know what to say, or if saying anything was even smart, so she remained silent.
