Marcus had a fair bit to look around the place where the portal had dropped him off after his encounter with the crimson samurai. There was little litter or pollution, if any; there was a myriad of shops and office buildings about the place, and people were relatively friendly and sociable.
It was a bore.
As many interesting things as this city had, it was -not- where he had entered the strange forest from, so that meant he was stranded alone in this place until there was a way out. He didn't have supplies on him apart from his weapons, the clothes on his back, and his Rider Belt; the latter of which he knew would still work unhindered here so long as he was careful. The only truly intriguing feature of the city was a rather large, tree-like office building that stuck out like a sore thumb from nearly any vantage point he could find; he could only assume that this building was in the center of the city and therefore held some sort of social, economic, or other kind of importance.
Now that he had a lay of the land, so to speak, he needed information. And when everyone was the "boring" sort of person to him, Marcus found it a bit difficult to find someone worth juicing for it....

Another couple hours' wandering found Marcus closer to the center of the city. While killing time was tedious, there were at least a couple things he could gather from the look of things. First, this place was in Japan. Almost all the signs and newspapers were written in kanji or hiragana, so that was a safe bet... but it didn't sit any better with him. Japan meant that he was closer to danger, and that -someone- might want his belt back around here.
Second, this place seemed to have a real obsession with some company called "Yggdrasill". Nearly every other commercial on the television or radio was plugging them. Given his knowledge of Norse mythology, he could put two and two together well enough to figure out that the tree-like building in the center of town might be theirs, from the imagery alone. Clever marketing, but it meant that the place either had the money and power to back it up, people with serious egos, or both. There might be work with such a company if he played his cards right, but he'd have to play careful if he didn't want them getting too nosy about how he did so well at what he did.
He took lunch at a small ramen stand off the street, considering himself lucky that he'd at least remembered to bring his wallet. Credit cards still worked here, at least, but they wouldn't last too long unless he found a way to keep himself afloat here, and resupply. The lunch gave him time to find out the third thing he'd noticed about the place: this place -really- liked dancing.
He nearly facepalmed.
He couldn't go far in the city without finding some public stage set up somewhere, and some bunch of kids on it jumping around. Didn't they have better things to do? The television kept track of teams' reputations in the city, and there was even a pirate radio station on nearly everyone's devices constantly blasting music and a rather boisterous DJ talking about what teams had kicked what other team's ass in a dance off or... whatever the hell an Invess Game was. There were even crowds around some of the stages during performances, most people wearing the colors of their favored dance team if they were there. Overall, it was proof positive to Marcus that Japan was still the source of all things weird and disturbing to him.
Given the options that he had for sources of information in this town, he didn't have to think twice to consider Yggdrasill's "tree" the best one to be barking up. He paid for his meal with a nod to the stand owner, and started making his way toward the Yggdrasill building with a sigh.
"...This better be worth it. Gonna lose my mind if I have to deal with any more dancing anyway."

It wasn't long after he'd decided to go toward the center of town that Marcus found something weird. One of the side alleys of the place, which otherwise seemed to be relatively pristine for a city, had... plants... growing on the concrete and walls, in scattered fashion.
"Eh? These look like..."
He frowned. They looked -exactly- like the kinds he'd seen in that forest earlier. It made him suspicious. Looking down the alley, he saw what looked like a tear in space, with a zipper around it... and on the other side, he could see that damned forest. Whoever that red samurai from earlier was, he'd been hiding something in there, and this time he wasn't going in unprepared. He snapped his fingers as he proceeded down the alley, and the Dark Kabuto Zecter flew down from the sky.
"Let's not waste any time, Sparky."
The metallic insect gave a mechanical chirp before flying onto his belt and sliding in on its own.
]HENSHIN[
His Masked Form armor began materializing in its hexagonal sections all around him as he started to break into a run, and jumped through the portal by the time it finished. His hand immediately went to the Zecter Horn, and pulled it to the right.
]CAST OFF[
The outer armor shell split up and flew apart as Dark Kabuto's horn rose up to meet the front of his helmet. He was getting answers this time, and if that red guy was around, he was going to show him why it was a mistake not to talk. Dark Kabuto proceeded into the forest....
Thread ends here for the moment.
