Laurie blew into the whistle, and the dog was called. Orion leaped out of the bushes, eyes blazing. The German Shepherd leaped at Jack, only to stop when Laurie got between the two. "Sit!" she declared.
Orion sat, growling. "What is it?"

Orion sniffed the air, trying to pin down where its scent is. He pivoted and turned in place as he tried to find it. After a moment, he turned and pointed to a specific tree to Jack's left. "Its somehow managing to replicate its own scent, but the real scent is coming from this tree."

Jack nodded, "Thanks Orion." He walked towards the tree and ran his Morpher's scanner over it.

He drew his Scope Shot and started to drive the knife into the tree.

As soon as he did, it was bathed in an ominous red light.

He drew back and scanned it again, "What do you think?"

"No clue" Laurie said, touching the tree. She yanked her hand back instantly. "The tree is burning hot!"
