Lucia was born to the oldest money in Venice, possibly in Italy; the Borgia family. Yes, THOSE Borgias. Her family held an incredible amount of wealth and power, and her mother made sure she knew it. Before she was even 10 years old, Lucia had been conditioned to believe she was royalty, better than the common rabble. However, as she attended private schools, she met children from lower social classes, whose families worked incredibly hard to get them to where they were, and it moved her. She saw her family as a sham, a facade for a scared aristocracy trying to survive in a poor man's world.
So, when she graduated college with a degree in history, she left Italy, going to join a university archaeology program, adopting the name Lucy Border. When her sister graduated, she invited her to stay, giving her a similarly false name. Victoria came to visit her sister at a dig one day, when one of her colleagues accidentally activated an artifact from the Crusades, conjuring a spectral knight that began killing anyone who wasn't a Christian. Lucy and Victoria immediately flung themselves at the knight so Lucy's coworkers could escape, and managed to keep it occupied long enough for Jack Drake to show up and neutralize the threat. When he learned that the two sisters had held it off for so long, he offered them both jobs. They both accepted.
Lucy was assigned the Yellow suit, growing into her role quickly. She trained often, mastering her claws quickly, and even used her family money to pay a technician to make her goggles for her. She also developed a skill for puzzle-solving, trying to find ways to be useful.
