Erika smiled. Shield for humanity? She liked the term. She wasn't sure it was fitting though. A shield was protective. It didn't strike, didn't cause damage. No, Erika felt more like a sword. Sword rummaging around in the dark. Her aunt had known little and told her little. She had to figure everything aside from the basic transformation sequence herself. Sierra-chan told her that she'd be able to find someone who could help her.
"Did you find someone who could help you?" she asked softly.

"No," she said, "I figured it out myself. The hard, painful way. But I did find someone else with a similar power source and learned a little more," she explained. "But most of it was just me."

Erika pointed a finger at Sierra-chan and then moved it back to point at herself. "Then you and me are solo sisters!" she said excitedly, bouncing on her heels.

"Yes, absolutely! Solo Sisters for life!" she insisted. "Normally I'd say buddies but the alliteration for sisters works better in this case," she mumbled more to herself than Sierra-chan.
