He couldn't help but smile. He looped an arm around her waist, "Well then, stick close to me and we'll see how far this can take us," he said, "It's both of our dreams, after all."

She smiled despite herself. She was used to being called a nut and a fanatic. It was nice to see someone else shared her enthusiasm.
"What is it that intrigues you about treasure hunting?" she asked. She laughed. "The treasure itself really doesn't interest me at all. I just want to find it! Finding it and then getting around all the exciting traps...That's the fun part." She shrugged. "Afterwards...It's just things. Maybe really pretty things but just things."

"My father," he told her, "He spent his life searching for a treasure. I guess that wore off on me. I'm still looking for the treasure he worked himself to death over..."

"I don't think it was a bad death," she said sincerely. "Some people search their whole lives and never find their passion. Some do and for some stupid reason try to deny it. I think it's great that your father knew what he wanted and went for it. I'd be perfectly satisfied, dying doing the work I love."

"I never really knew him," he told her, "He basically walked out on us to do his search, that was the only problem."

She frowned. "Ah," she said knowingly. She really hated parents like that. "My mother and father were never around either. Much too busy with work. If he left you I'm surprised you'd want to follow his work. Did you just happen to like the same thing?" she asked.
She was really glad she didn't like her parents' work. She never had to worry about that dilemma.

"The organization came to me," he told her, "They offered me this job. I wanted to surpass my father, I guess you could say."

"Organization came to me too. I have this habit of stealing things. You know, just to see if I can get through the security and successfully get away." She grinned. "Such a rush! And then you know...I want to let people know that someone actually got it so I keep whatever for a few days before I return it." She laughed. "It's always fun watching the media spin its theories."
"But I got caught returning something recently. Organization made me a deal. I wouldn't have to go to prison and could spend my time treasure hunting. Didn't have to think twice."
She didn't mind telling him she was a thief. She'd deny she said any of it if police or lawyers got involved.

He smiled, "What an interesting story," he told her. He paused, "Charlotte...," he didn't quite know what to say, or to offer. "Would you...like to come back to my apartment for a drink?"

Normally she'd be much more paranoid about accepting such an offer and even here she paused. But he was a teammate and he should know how useful her skills were in terms of locating and securing treasure. It was in his best interest not to harm her.
"Okay," she said hesitantly.

"You don't have to," he said, noticing her hesitation. "I just thought I'd offer. Show you some of my work, have a drink."

"Well I do like artwork and alcohol," she admitted. "But I warn you I'm more nimble than you could guess! If you try anything you'll regret it!"
She smirked. "And I definitely won't help you learn any Greek if you try something!" If he was interested she wouldn't mind teaching him. She really liked learning the old languages and sharing some of that knowledge with other interested parties. When she read the texts...It was like the dead were speaking to her and imparting their wisdom and secrets. Secrets which could lead to treasure!

He smiled, "Oh, if I try something, you'll enjoy it too much," he told her, "I'm very suave, and very good with women," he said. "Not that I'm a man-whore."

She chuckled. "Yeah, good luck. I'm not just any ordinary woman. I'm Charlotte Carlisle and I don't take to others that easily."
"Very good with women but not a man-whore? Explain to me how that works!"

"Well, I'm not a whore," he said, "I just appreciate women."
