The Arcle returned Kiriha to normal. He fixed his tie a little, "Kyuuseishu, Kiriha. A savior that the people need," he said simply.

"A savior?" she asked, confused. She had no idea what he was talking about. He was obviously some kind of warrior but he'd never fought against Gedoushu before. So what did he fight?

"A savior of the people. I will destroy any monster in my way so I can protect everyone."

"A very noble goal. A warrior should never fight for themselves but for the peace and security of others."

"It's the only goal," he told her, "To give one's life for others, to dedicate it to saving. It's the only way to truly live life, for me."

"But it's important not to be too attached to life or you will hesitate to do what is necessary," she answered.
"The way of the warrior is resolute acceptance of death."

"And I accept it, as long as I can carry out my duty. But I will not die," he said with absolute resolution.

"The way of the warrior is death. This means choosing death whenever there is a choice between life and death. It means nothing else," she replied, quoting In the Shadow of the Leaves.
"All things die. It is the natural way of things. One day both you and I will be no more. Hopefully when my time comes I will be holding a blade and fighting."

"I will die eventually, yes, but I will not die in battle. I will fight as long as I can, and crush everything in my way to protect the people. Either I will be old, and slain, or I will die as an old man, lying in bed."

"You don't want to die on the battle field?!" she asked, shocked. She couldn't imagine a more meaningful death. What honor was there to be had if your time came when you were old and asleep in a warm bed?

"If I die on the battlefield...today, or tomorrow, then I won't be able to fight any longer, I won't be able to save anyone else," he told her.

"One day we won't be able to save anyone anymore. Our time will pass and someone else will take up the mantle. We shouldn't think so highly of ourselves as to believe no one else can take our place. People must and they will. Since one day I will have to die I'd much rather die with my sword unsheathed."
"This is truth: When you sacrifice your life, you must make fullest use of your weaponry. It is false not to do so, and to die with a weapon as yet undrawn," she quoted the Book of Five Rings.

"My child will never be able to take up the fight I leave to him or her," he told her, "Only I can continue this fight that I've begun. It's a sad truth, but it is truth. I have the will, the drive, which they will lack. They will find their own someday, but it won't be this strong."

"It is arrogance to assume that no one's will can be stronger than your own. Even if your children cannot be the ones to take up your mantle someone else will."

"I doubt that," he told her, "You don't know me, nor about my power." Granted, he didn't know everything either, "Without knowing more, you can't understand."
