He thrust his sword up, but he miscalculated her speed. He got it up too late, and hadn't planned on dodging.
He lost.

Sayuri was humble but this experience was meant to humble Kiriha. Instead of instantly thanking him for the match like she normally would, she gazed up at him from her position. "You're dead," she said simply. Had this been a real battle with real blades, his throat would be slit by now.

"I know," he said, leaving it at that. He stepped away and replaced the sword he had been using, giving no other words to her. He lost...but he had said that swordsmanship was far from his forte. He had his pride, but he had still wanted victory.

Sayuri bowed to Kiriha. "Thank you for the match," she said politely. Then she grinned. "You were actually really good! It was wonderful practice!" Training with another person was much more interesting than training alone.
Well his swordsmanship wasn't great but he certainly had the power and speed to make the experience challenging. And if he cared enough to take up the sword, he could be amazing.

"Thank you for your assistance earlier; and, thank you for honoring me with a visit. Please be well and try to remember that anyone can die regardless of power or skill. Don't be so confident. It's a mistake."

"It's served me well so far," he told her, leaving the room and going back to where they had come from.

Sayuri escorted him outside. "Please feel free to visit again, time permitting," she said with a wave.

He didn't say anything, he just left.
