He sighed and looked up at the sky. He looked back at her, "Fine," he said. He had enough time before he had to go to work at the hospital, he could indulge her for now. He walked towards her, "Fine," he repeated, "let's go."

It was clear he was displeased with the invitation but how could she not offer? He had assisted her. Courtesy dictated that she invite him to her home and prepare tea.
She nodded and began walking in the proper direction. "It is not far," she assured him.

He didn't say anything. He followed after her, hands in his pockets, trailing to her side and a step or two back.

Sayuri said nothing as she lead him back to the house. He was displeased and she didn't anything she said would make him happier. Furthermore, he was a stranger, and she didn't quite know what to say. Silence wasn't an enemy. It was best to hold your tongue until you found the proper words.
She unlocked the door and slipped off her shoes as soon as she went inside as was expected. "Please wait here for a moment." She needed to warn her father that they had a guest.
She returned a moment later with her father. "This is my father, Shiraishi, Hiroshi. Father, this is Kyuuseishu, Kiriha, a brave warrior who helped me defeat Gedoushu today."
"Father, please keep our honored guest company while I prepare tea," she said before hurrying into the kitchen.

Kiriha bowed to her father, "As she said, Kyuuseishu, Kiriha," he stated, coming out of his bow. He was respectable, he'd gladly show that. He reached down and unlaced his boots, figuring he should probably get that taken care of.

Hiroshi grinned warmly at Kirha. The boy had manners. Hiroshi bowed to Kriha as well. "As she said Shiraishi, Hiroshi. Thank you for looking after my daughter."
Hiroshi lead Kiriha over to some chairs, subtly, looking him over. He was polite and good looking and according to his daughter a brave warrior. Maybe he would finally be the one to get Sayuri interested in a life outside of combat. He hoped so. Sayuri was already 23 and still she'd found no one with whom she could share her heart. It worried him so.
Meanwhile Sayuri was in the kitchen preparing tea.

Kiriha, however, thought nothing of what Hiroshi was thinking. He nodded in thanks and took a seat, remaining silent. He didn't know if he should try to start a conversation, or if Sayuri would be back in short order and thus make a conversation not worthwhile.

"I do hope you're a patient sort," Hiroshi said with a jovial grin. "Sayuri is...Well I suppose a perfectionist would be the nicest way of putting it. She'll probably boil the tea five or six times before she deems it worthy of serving."
Sayuri had set the water to boil and was in the process of choosing which teacups she should use to serve the guest. Which ones would he find most pleasing?

He looked at Hiroshi, "I have time," he said, "I have nowhere to be for a few hours. I can wait on her..."

"May I call you Kiriha?" Hiroshi asked. "Feel free to call me Hiroshi. Anyone who protects my daughter is a friend of the family. There should be no need for formality between us."
Sayuri still hadn't chosen which tea set she should use. She should have been ready to serve the tea but after sniffing it she wasn't convinced the balance was appropriate. She began her work anew.

"You may," Kiriha told him, "I apologize if I hold a certain level of formality with you, but it may be hard for me to drop," he told Hiroshi.

"Showing respect to your elders is admirable. If it makes you uncomfortable to be informal I understand. I'm just letting you know there is no need to be so tense. I appreciate what you've done for my daughter." Yes, he was polite. That was good.
"Tell me, Kiriha, what do you think of Sayuri?"
Meanwhile Sayuri had narrowed it down to five tea sets. She was taking her time. It was important that she choose well.

What did he think of her? Well, this man was her father. "I don't quite know," he said, "She is an able fighter, and she seems genuinely good." It wasn't much, but it was something, for now, "I guess there was a reason I agreed to come with her. She is good of heart, although her quotes get a little old," he stated.

Hiroshi laughed at that last bit. "Yes, Sayuri is very fond of her quotes. I think she doesn't quite know what to do with herself when she's not fighting or training. The quotes are her way of coping, of maintaining a warrior mentality when outside of combat." At least that was what he believed.
He took on a more grave expression. "I do worry about her. All she ever thinks about is being a proper warrior." She had no friends. It was clear that even her teaching job was secondary. She had virtually nothing outside her fight against the Gedoushu. She was so serious about her responsibilities that she honestly considered seppuku when she felt she failed in them. Yes, he was very worried.
Meanwhile Sayuri had narrowed it down to four tea sets. Her second batch of tea wasn't yet ready. She still had time to select the proper set.

"There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a fighter," Kiriha said, "You're protecting people that way, after all. It is one of the better ways to carry on your life, as I see it."
He dedicated himself to fighting, but he had more pursuits. He had the life his father gave to him, as a socialite. He had his hospital work. The hospital work almost equaled his fighting, because he could save lives in both areas. Socialite, however, he didn't care as much about that one.
