"Into town," he said, "I know a quaint diner that would be lovely." He left it vague for now, primarily because he didn't think that talk of location was all too important.

Morgana simply nodded and followed his lead. If she got lost she could always ask for directions and find her way back somewhere. It wasn't like she'd be stranded forever. Her thoughts returned to the river spell. It had worked however briefly. The question was could it only show her people she'd recently studied or been in contact with. The descriptions had been sketchy. So that had been Erika's father. Maybe that was why she was currently residing with that dark mage.

The walk into town took about five minutes, and the diner. It was a quaint place, small, and there were only three others inside having their meals. He seated himself in a booth towards the back corner, next to a window, figuring that the view at least was nice enough, so it was worth choosing this spot.

"Pretty view," she commented, looking out the window. Yes, although she was new in town she had to acknowledge the area had some pretty sights.

"It's a shame it's spent on the town," he said, "There's so much more beauty out in the world. The waters, the forests, but they did what they could."

Morgana smiled. "I am particularly fond of forests," she admitted.
No matter how much magic she studied she would always be strongest with Earth magic. That was the magic she had tapped into before studying anything. She would say Earth magic was intuitive but as a child she really hadn't been able to control her gifts. Vines would sprout out of no where at and nearly strangle her. And she couldn't silence any of the voices of the flora or fauna. No, it could be quite problematic. Thank goodness through training and discipline she'd learned how to tune them out. She was fortunate that her father had been a mage. Not an Earth mage but as a mage he'd been able to help.

"The forests are gorgeous," he said, "A place of serenity, of peace. I can admire them, but I'm more of a water person," he told her. "That's why I was at the river."

For Morgana forests could be a place of great peace and serenity but also a place of absolute chaos depending upon how weak or tired she was. If she was seriously injured or drained and her focus was not what it should be, all those voices from the flora and fauna would come screaming back into her head. Not fun. But normally she received a sort of vigor just being surrounded by the trees and other foliage.
"Your parents named you well, Rain." Surprisingly well. "I might be more of a forest person but I certainly appreciate rivers and lakes. To me they're more peaceful than the forest." Thank goodness she wasn't plagued by lakes' thoughts. And they were certainly useful for various types of spells. And very pretty too.

"My parents were artists," he said, "They chose an 'artsy' name for me. I like it, it makes me unique," it also helped give him his appreciation for the water and nature. Primarily the water. He doubted he'd care as much if his name were something else.

Were? Were his parents dead too? They had probably died more gracefully than her own. "My father was a chemist and my mother was a physician." She'd been closer to her father, though. He was the mage. He was the one who could really help her. He had such a lovely library before it was razed to the ground. She had escaped with precious few books. A human couldn't carry that many.
"Rain is a unique name. It suits you."

"Thank you," he said, "I don't know much of foreign names, so I cannot speak for yours. But I can tell, even across languages, the elegance it holds."

Morgana smiled. "My father picked it from Arthurian legend. Lady Morgana or The Lady of the Lake was this really powerful sorceress. In some versions of the story she had very potent healing magic," she explained.
She grinned at his comment about her name's elegance. "Thank you. I've always been rather fond of it myself," she admitted.

"What an interesting name origin," he told her, "Though I personally was never fond of myths and legends. I know the gist of King Arthur, but not much beyond that."

"My father had this really wonderful library," she said dreamily. Not all of it were magic books. About half of them were normal. "He was really interested in some myths and legends, curious to see what kernels of truth they might hold. I shared his enthusiasm although both of us were more interested in other types of research," she explained.
"And you don't need to keep buttering me up. I'm not going to leave if you don't compliment me or my tastes every two seconds," she assured him.

Well, that was good to know, but he figured he might not get much farther if he didn't. So he'd keep going, because that's what he knew.
"Did you ever find any truth?" he asked.
