Ah. Now that was a slightly dangerous subject. It hinted a bit too close to the magical nature of their research.
"We might have," she said a bit hesitantly. "We never did get to finish looking into it, though. Unexpected circumstances came up." Namely her parents being branded as withes and burned all for her father trying to help cure their plague infected town. Her parents burned. Her home burned. The books burned. She and a handful of books were all that remained from that disaster.

"What was it, then?" he asked. If there was going to be truth to this, it could be interesting, and definitely worth asking about.

"We didn't have time to finish researching," she said hastily. "And so we don't or rather I don't really have the necessary proof." And magic. If Rain wasn't a mage he'd either think she was crazy or worse, think she should be killed, burned like her parents. And she didn't think he was a mage. Mages had this magical aura about them unless they were actively suppressing it. She didn't sense anything like that from him.

"Ah, a shame," he told her, "Seeing work go unfinished is hard. Any type of work," it could be actual research and work, like she spoke of, or just trying to do something in life. He recalled multiple times he had started with a woman, but something had come up and she had to leave before he could finish his seduction.

"I might go back to it one day. It's just that there were more pressing matters to attend to after my father died. And I wasn't sure I wanted to continue without him."

He nodded, "I can understand that." Well, not personally he couldn't, "The pain must be great, losing a parent, a loved one, and I'm sorry that you had that happen."

She tried not to think about it too much. It wouldn't help her. Her parents were gone and they were never coming back. "Are your parents still alive then? You said they 'were' artists. Did they retire?" she asked, switching the focus off of her and her father.

"'were', 'are', semantics of words," he said, "But my mother is still sculpting, my father has retired," he told her, "He's gone onto finding more lucrative work."

"I hope it's going well for both of them and that they're thoroughly enjoying themselves." It wasn't like she actually cared. She barely knew this person and she certainly knew nothing about his parents. Still, it was terrible when ignorance brought about the death of fine people, particularly parents who still had a child to raise. And she didn't know his parents. Maybe they were fine people who offered a great deal of culture.

He nodded, "Thank you. I believe they are." Ok, he needed to shift subjects here, talking of parents wasn't exactly going to get him too far, at least not where he wanted to be. "We should order," he said, picking up a menu from the table. Someone would come shortly, seeing that he at least had picked one up.

Morgana picked up her menu as well and skimmed through the contents. What should she get? This was her first time ordering food in Japan. "Do you have any recommendations?" she asked him. If he didn't she'd just pick something at random. She wasn't that picky when it came to food anyway.

"I enjoy the omelet," he informed her. Sure, it wasn't going to be some foreign experience to her, but it was good.

Morgana smiled. "Well I'm sure I can handle that."

When someone came over he turned to him, "Two omelets, one bottle of wine."

"So what is it you like to do?" she asked him once the waiter left. "Do you have some project you're working on or some goal you're working towards?"
