I'm fearing we're going to get executive meddling this season. Look at the fight scenes and some of the unnecessary humor in them. That's almost certainly Toei meddling to make up for the lack of obvious child appear/wacky character nobody actually gives a fuck about (Shunpei...).

It's not a matter of liking it or not, it's a matter that it's out of place, and screams of a Toei mandate, if you think about it.
The scripts are fine as they are, but they're not outlandishly funny, or over the top. That's what Toei wants, that's what they think kids want (and it might be, we don't have viewership data for Gaim yet, though).

Whatever, let's just back up and remember something for a sec - this is a show about fruit based riders.
I don't expect such a show to take it self too seriously all the time, nor do I want it too.
But yeah, Toei will undoubtedly screw with this season, like they've done with every season as of late.
No getting around that.

Just because it's fruit doesn't mean it has to be really weird with shitty comedy.
Let's not forget Ziggy, a comedy character done right. Was he over the top? No. You don't need that shit to get kids to laugh.

Bandai's already played their hand on Urobushi. Why are they using fruits? Bandai made him change it from birds and insects into Fruits, though God knows why.
I can live with Kurokage and Ornac's antics honestly, because it shows how much of a joke both of them are. Kurokage/Ornac (yeah I know that's not his name) remind me of Bulk and Skull, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Besides, we all know where this show's going, so putting the comic relief in in advance helps with the tone. Besides, the fact that they aren't advertised alongside Gaim/Braon/Ryugen/Zangetsu implies that they'll either be depowered, put on a bus, or get killed off anyway - this IS Urobushi - so I'm gonna enjoy them while they're around.
