Jun shrugged helplessly. "It's just speculation. Don't worry too much. Rin always thought I was a bit too overprotective as an older brother. But what older brother doesn't worry about his younger sister?"
"Rui-chan, remember I wasn't the only knight summoned here. We should have a force of knights, priests, and priestesses ready to protect the town!" he said encouragingly. He didn't mention how unusual it was for so many knights to be summoned to a single city to begin with. Yeah, things were definitely bad.

She nodded, "Well, I suppose you're a good brother then," she told him. "I feel safer already."

Jun laughed. "She would almost never tell me that. Not even after I made like 10 batches of pudding because they weren't quite to her liking. She could be such a little brat! I figured out later that it wasn't that there was a problem with the pudding, she just wanted me to make a lot so she could eat more!" He smiled at the memory. Sometimes he really missed Rin.

She let out a small laugh, "I can believe that. It's really good," she told him.

Jun smiled. "Thank you," he said, pleased. "Well Rin had a lot of responsibilities, just like me, and she asked for so little so I wanted to come through for her when she did ask for something." He chucked. "Even if it was 10 batches of pudding."

"Like I said, you're a good brother," Rui told him.

He smiled. "I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if she came here. Then at least I'd get to see her again."

She nodded, "And I have enough room for more people too," she said.

If she did come Jun wasn't sure it was such a good idea that she stay here. He hadn't seen her in quite some time and he wasn't sure what she would think of him keeping a person tainted with Horror blood alive. No, the fewer people who knew about Rui-chan, the better.
"I bet you'd like her. She was mostly sweet even though she could be a brat at times," he thought fondly. He figured all younger sisters were brats to their older brothers on occasion.

"I imagine most brother-sister relations are like that," she said.

She looked down and shook her head, "I don't know...," she said, "I've been an orphan as long as I can remember..."

"I'm sorry," he said sincerely. Of course she wouldn't remember. Priestesses were good at their work.

"I've been living alone for a while. It can be tough. You must be a very strong person, Rui-chan."
